A Pop of Color: Intuitive Labeling for King of Pops
Brand Development Project
OVERVIEW
A legible and multi-purpose label which can be printed as both a sticker and a magnet addresses King of Pops’ labeling needs. This system increases efficiency and creates a consistent labeling language from production through sales. Color, type, and graphics are all used to communicate information about each pop.
This project was completed in collaboration with Himani Deshpande and Evan Fowler.
RESEARCH
Research methods included: a shadow shift with a pop slinger, tours of new and old HQ, interviews with the founder, a GM, and the education leader, as well as industry research and journey mapping.
AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY
Based on our research, the most pressing areas of opportunity were the organization at HQ and the chalkboards.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
After much ideation, solutions related to a comprehensive labeling system were pursued.
DEFINING GOALS
Problem Statement: There is no consistent or easily legible organization system for pops. Labeling is currently being addressed by many disparate strategies, including printed labels on bins/boxes, handwritten signs, computer paper printouts, etc.
Concept Refinement
DESIGN OUTCOME
